Hushamok or cot?
The Hushamok has been recommended by doctors in America for its natural rocking, swinging and bouncing motion which induce sleep and keep the baby sleeping for longer.
This product comes highly recommended because of the support it gives the baby. Unlike a cot or crib where the baby has to lie flat, the hushamok simulates the cosy nestling experienced in the womb and therefore minimizes symptoms of infant colic.
The leafspring used in this product provides a gentle rocking motion which creates a gentle rocking motion experienced before they were born. This motion facilitates better and longer sleep not only for babies but for parents as well.
All materials used for this product is 100% organic cotton and not treated with fire retardant chemicals
ensuring a natural and eco-friendly rest for your baby.
What makes this particular product different from other baby hammocks?
The design of the Hushamok reduces strain on the spine and nerves by supporting the natural curve of the spine. The EVA foam insert conforms to the baby's shape and prevent dipping or sagging in the middle. Other baby hammocks have no form, which could compromise babies breathing, and spinal support.
Pediatricians recommend keeping the baby’s head slightly elevated to prevent acid reflux. The Hushamok provide an elevation that will reduce the symptoms of acid reflux. The hammock has an upright, angled position assisting babies with natural newborn sleep, colic and reflux.
Hushamok baby hammocks distribute baby’s head weight more evenly to the rest of the body, reducing the problems of Flat Head Syndrome
(Plagiocephaly). "Flat head" syndrome occurs when babies spend a considerable amount of time with their head resting in the same position.
What about safety?
Medical studies performed on baby hammocks have shown that there are virtually no carbon dioxide build up which it is believed to be the main cause of SIDS. This is where the swinging motion of the hammock becomes important. Carbon dioxide is expelled around the baby, which it is said that when re-breathed causes acidosis.
The product has been safety tested under the US Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) Certification Program. The Hushamok baby hammock has also passed the EU certification program for Safety Requirements and Test Methods for Cribs and Cradles for the relevant EN 1130 requirements.
In short, a brilliant piece of design and a must have for all parents.
