about the studio...
Studiomacs started out as a freelance graphic design and art studio in 2000. During this time the studio's main focus was designing brochures, posters, business cards and company logos. The Studio was commissioned in 2001 to transform part of a client's house in Kingsclere, Berkshire, UK, into a fully functioning bed and breakfast unit. Due to the success of the Kingsclere project the focus of the Studio changed to interior decorating with the graphic component playing a minor role.
From 2006 to 2009 the Studio went into a bit of a hiatus while Charmaine Smit, the owner of Studiomacs, completed a B Des (interior) degree that would later enable the Studio to offer a fully comprehensive service from concept design right through to the project management of the project. Having lived and worked in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia, the way people occupy, perform, and live in their respective spaces, intrigued Charmaine to the point where she made a personal study to observe how space and content conversely affected people. This study enabled the Studio to specialize in providing solutions that optimise limited and small spaces to its full potential.
Due to the versatility of the Studio we receive many requests to design and manufacture various things from furniture to fascinators.
